Whether one culture is better than another is purely subjective. (You know: my religion is True; yours is False!) That they're different is an objective observation. A distinct characteristic of the High Culture of the West is the import assigned to the Individual. Individualism, rather than egalitarianism, has been the motive force behind its astounding achievements.

The emergence of "mass-this" and "mass-that" have wrot havoc with the ability of one to maintain his identity as an individual. With astonishing prescience, over a century ago the great Friedrich Nietzsche saw the advent of Last Man: the reduction of the human being from a noble Beast of Prey to a herd animal. Your Mind is what the The Homogenizers seek to control. (You've read Orwell - at least I hope you have - one must learn to love Big Brother!)
